Manchester City v Port Vale
This match is an easy one to set up in a sentence: Premier League Champions against League 2 minnows. But in living memory it wasn't always this way.
During the 1997/98 season, Port Vale did the double over Manchester City, beating a team at Maine Road that included Paul Dickov and Georgi Kinkladze. Kinkladze was sold to Ajax for £5m at the end of the season, and City began the rebuilding process from the third tier of English football. The importance of this match was clear to both clubs: Port Vale finished the season a point ahead of City, and avoided relegation.
Will today’s Vale side be able to produce a similar result on January 4th in the FA Cup? You could be there to see it, and enjoy the fantastic hospitality experience provided in Manchester City's Tunnel Club.
