Fighting For Fourth
Under the watchful eye of his uncle Harry Redknapp, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea struggled to a draw at Bournemouth at the weekend. Chelsea’s inconsistency, particularly against teams from the bottom half of the table, is the thing that could cost them in the race for 4th spot in the Premier League. Chelsea have ten remaining games in the Premier League - Everton at home and Villa away are the next two fixtures - plus an FA Cup tie this week against Liverpool, and a trip to Bayern Munich (which even the most hardcore of supporter would assume is beyond salvation) on the horizon. At the beginning of the season few people would have given Chelsea much chance of a Champions League spot, so in some respects Lampard is exceeding expectation, but having occupied the place for a significant chunk of the season, it would feel like a disappointment for them to lose out now.
