Two Points Dropped?
The overwhelming feeling at the end of the match against Manchester United on Sunday was one of disappointment, and whether VAR had robbed Everton of three useful points. Clearly from his reaction in the immediate aftermath, Carlo Ancelotti felt aggrieved. The sight of Duncan Ferguson as the peacemaker was certainly quite unusual! Everton had taken the lead in fortuitous fashion after David De Gea’s ponderous dwelling on the ball in front of his goal, before some less than wonderful goalkeeping from Jordan Pickford (in front of the watching England manager) helped United back into the game. On paper it’s a decent point, given United’s recent resurgence, but after the last minute deflected goal was disallowed it felt more like two points lost than a point gained. Everton travel to Chelsea next week before hosting Liverpool on Monday March 16th.
